ウェザー・リポートと人気を二分していたリターン・トゥ・フォーエヴァー（第3期）のギタリスト、アル・ディ・メオラのファースト・アルバム『Land of The Midnight Sun（白夜の大地）』。リリースはジャコとのソロ・デビューと同じ1976年。

その他のサポートメンバーとしてアンソニー・ジャクソン（b）、スタンリー・クラーク（b）、スティーヴ・ガット（ds）、レニー・ホワイト（ds）、アルフォンス・ムザーン（ds）、チック・コリア（p）などが名を連ねる。ジャコは3つの組曲からなる#5《Suite Golden Dawn》の収録に参加した。ジャコが参加した#5は本作の中では一番の長尺曲。ベース・ソロは無いものの、ジャコのお得意フレーズ満載のバッキングを聴けるのが嬉しい。

それにつけてもアル・ディ・メオラの指も良く動くものだと感心せずにはいられない。アルは1954年生まれでターン・トゥ・フォーエヴァー加入時は20歳。本作収録時は22歳でこの完成度。チック・コリアとのアコースティック・デュオの#6《Short Tales of the Black Forest》の超“光速”プレイに息をのむ！
