Epic、Clumbia、ECM、Warner Bros.などレーベルを横断してジャコの名曲・名演を集めたコンピレーション・アルバム2枚組。ジャコの2枚のソロ名義アルバムとウェザー・リポートでの演奏のほか、パット・メセニー、アルバート・マンゲルスドルフ、ジョニ・ミッチェル、ミシェル・コロンビエ、フローラ・プリム、アイアート・モレイラ、マイク・スターン、ブライアン・メルビンらのアルバムに参加したものを時系列で収録。
Disc-1の冒頭に本作と同じタイミングでリリースされた『Portrait of Jaco the early years 1968–1978』から、ジャコのプライベート録音2曲を収録。Disc-2の《Good Morning Anya》は、1999年にリリースされた『Full Complete Session from Holiday For Pans (1980-82)』からのもので、1993年リリースの初版『Holiday For Pans』より収録時間が長いテイクとなっている。
